Laindon Lift Room

Scope of works - Laindon Lift Room

  • Project duration:
    1 months
  • Project value:
    £80,000
  • Completion date:
    02/07/2021

Project Overview

Tower Construction was contracted by Railscape to deliver a package of building and structural works at Laindon Station for c2c. The scope included major alterations to the lift plant rooms serving all three platforms, along with structural alterations to the ticket office.

Working in close coordination with Railscape, we demolished the existing lift plant rooms and rebuilt new structures to meet the required specification. We also removed the existing ATM machine and formed a new ticket office arrangement to the front elevation of the station, improving functionality and passenger interface.

Key Challenges

A key challenge was the extremely tight programme. The lift plant room works required demolition and full rebuild within a three-day possession window, meaning the team had to work around the clock to meet the handover deadline.

The works also took place within a live operational station environment, requiring careful planning, controlled access and strong coordination to maintain safety, protect station operations and meet strict rail standards throughout.

Added Value

Tower Construction added value through proactive planning and efficient delivery methods, ensuring the programme could be achieved within the limited possession period. By coordinating tightly with Railscape and sequencing works effectively, we delivered the full demolition and rebuild scope within the required three-day timeframe, enabling a successful handover without delay.
