Project Overview

Tower Construction worked closely with Railscape to support the design and construction of a new pet agility area at the Eurotunnel Terminal in Folkestone. Completed in September 2022, the project was delivered within a high-security operational environment, requiring careful planning, strict access control and close coordination with Eurotunnel stakeholders throughout.

The new facility was commissioned in response to the growing number of pets travelling through the terminal and was designed to improve passenger flow by relocating the agility area away from the live car park. Once the design was finalised, our team delivered the enabling and construction works, including ground preparation, lighting installation, fencing, landscaping and final finishing works. Following completion, we decommissioned the existing agility area to fully transition operations to the new facility.

Key Challenges

A key challenge was delivering the works within a high-security location while maintaining safe passenger movement and operational continuity. This required strict compliance with site security procedures, controlled access arrangements and coordinated logistics.

The works also needed to be carefully programmed to minimise disruption to terminal users and avoid impacting live traffic management  requiring proactive planning and clear stakeholder communication throughout.

Added Value

Tower Construction added value by working collaboratively with both Railscape and Eurotunnel to coordinate programme, access and logistics efficiently, ensuring works were delivered safely and with minimal disruption.

By relocating the agility area away from the live car park and supporting the decommissioning of the old facility, the completed scheme improved passenger flow, reduced congestion and created a safer, more functional space for terminal users.
