Project Overview
Tower Construction and Tower Electrical worked closely with Railscape to design and deliver the conversion of a former Saab garage into their primary headquarters. The works transformed an existing single-storey building into a modern two-storey office and storage facility, providing a long-term operational base aligned with the client’s requirements.
The scope included the safe removal of the existing asbestos roof, followed by the installation of a new independent steel frame to facilitate the additional floor and upgraded structural form. Throughout the programme, Tower Construction worked alongside BGA to coordinate design development and buildability, ensuring the final outcome met the client’s expectations and remained within budget.
Key Challenges
A key challenge was managing the asbestos removal safely and compliantly, ensuring the building could be progressed into structural works without delay.
The project also required careful coordination of the steel frame installation and conversion works to ensure structural integrity, programme control and efficient sequencing particularly as the building transitioned from a garage to a fully functioning headquarters space.
